Otoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting the cartilage anomalies in the outer ear that cause it to appear detached, resulting in symmetrical, natural-looking ears.
There are 3 types of ear malformations. :
- Helix Valgus: significant angulation between the ear’s pavilion and the skull, which causes a "detached" appearance.
- Concha hypertrophy: excessive size of the concha cartilage that protrudes the ear forward, accentuating the detached appearance.
- Flaw in the folding of the antihelix: a faulty folding of the cartilage’s usual contours, giving the auricle a too-smooth appearance.
The surgeon makes a skin incision at the back of the ear, specifically in the natural fold.
Then, they perform a dissection and reshape the natural contours (creating or increasing the fold of the antihelix), held in place by fine, buried sutures.
Otoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 1 hour.
The pain is moderate and, if necessary, treated with analgesics and anti-inflammatories.
Slight hematomas and edemas that fade away within two weeks.
A 2-month period is necessary to see the final result.
The tissues will soften, and all of the edema will be reabsorbed, leaving the ear’s contours clearly visible.
Medicalys We offer a comfortable and luxurious medical stay with carefully planned pricing.
